FAIRVIEW (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The 3,600 mile journey continues for a 90-year-old man raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Heart of Illinois ABC caught up with Dean Troutman on his walk Monday in Fairview.

Ever since 2014, Troutman has been raising money for charitable causes, starting with The Troutman Park, which was established in memory of his late wife Dorothy “Peggy” Troutman.

Dean left for this year’s walk on July 10. In early August, the ‘Troutman Trek 2021′ had to be cut shot after a medical evaluation. That was when local Midwesterners reached out to Dean’s team on Facebook and decided to help him reach the goal of walking 3,600 miles for St. Jude.

Troutman will stay in Central Illinois this week to complete his journey. He is expected to arrive at the Elmwood Fire Station on Thursday; then, walk to Brimfield by Friday; and, finish the 100 miles with a walk back to his home in Princeville on Saturday.

This year will be Dean’s last Trek for St. Jude. Pledges can be made through his fundraising page at
