Peoria International Airport has set yet another record.

The airport saw its busiest month on record in June, with a record 64,784 passengers passing through. The number marked a 3.4 percent increase over the previous record month, March 2018.

“This is great news – not just for the airport, but for our community as a whole. Continuing this trend will send a strong message to our airline partners that PIA is an airport worthy of additional flights and new routes,” said Gene Olson, Director of Airports for the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria.

Olson said PIA is looking for another western destination. A recent market analysis shows PIA captures 58 percent of the air travel in a 25-40 mile radius, with about 33 percent choosing to fly out of Chicago O'Hare.
