The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport saw more than 623,000 passengers in 2016.

That's about three percent lower than record-breaking 2015.

Peoria had several notable highlights in 2016, including the new Ray LaHood International Terminal dedication in April.

The airport also added new twice-daily flights to Charlotte, NC in November.

Now with 12 destinations, the Peoria Airport has more nonstop flights than any other Illinois airport outside of Chicago.

Airport Director, Gene Olson, says this year is off to a good start, with American Airlines upgrading to larger jets and first class service for flights to Dallas/Fort Worth next month.
